Issued Zones:  Inland Empire … Eastern LA Mountains … San Bernardino / RIV mountains … Southern High Desert Metro … Northern San Diego County … Santa Ana Mountains …

Site:  SouthernCaliforniaWeatherForce.com has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective now through this evening …

Date:  9/9/15 at 8:40am PT

Forecast: Instability in the entire watch box concentrates the entire Inland Empire and surrounding areas north to south from there.  Activity is expected to meet the convective temp (rising air motion) today and thus clouds will start to lift as it gets hotter.

Today has the potential for widespread flooding, damaging winds, large hail, and even landspout tornado risks, with the risk of landspouts along the Elsinore Convergence Zone surrounding Winchester.

Storm activity is expected to pop along the neighboring mountains as well as the Southern Metro High Desert areas …

If activity forms in the San Diego Mountains, it could drift west into the Fallbrook areas …

Since storms are expected in the Santa Ana Mountains (affecting Highway 74), have included that zone in the watch as well.

10 mile rule:  These alerts issued on this site means that within your zone and 10 miles from you will see the event forecast for.  You may or may not see the event but it means you are in the zone or 10 miles from where someone will.

Forecaster: KM
