Thunderstorm Watch

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]112016b[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Issued Zones:  Offshore Islands … Ventura Coast/Valley … Los Angeles Coast/Valley/Basin … Orange County … The Inland Empire … San Diego Coast/Valley/Foothills …

Site:  SouthernCaliforniaWeatherForce.com has issued a Thunderstorm Watch effective now through Monday morning … Upgraded Alert from Flood Advisory

Date:  11/20/16 at 1:20pm PT

Forecast: The stepladder of upgrading alerts will continue as numbers continue to be poured in and parts of the Flood Advisory are now filled in with a Thunderstorm Watch.  Strong digging, trough axis, and upper divergence along with instability will bring thunderstorms through the area this evening into the overnight hours.

This line of storms will start in the bight of the forecast area, south of Santa Barbara.  Already the cloud tops are starting to cool, indicating storms are forming offshore.  The line will move into Ventura this later evening and early night and move east from there into Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and The Inland Empire areas.   Storms tonight will have frequent lightning as a result .. the most instability will be in the Los Angeles and Orange County Basin so this is a major focus for upgraded alerts later on.

An upgrade to Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be needed for parts of the this watch zone, possibly in some of VT County … but mainly the LA and OC Coast/Basin needs to be on the look-out for these upgraded alerts.

10 mile rule:  These alerts issued on this site means that within your zone and 10 miles from you will see the event forecast for.  You may or may not see the event but it means you are in the zone or 10 miles from where someone will.
