Southern California Weather Force has issued the official Flood Emergency for all metro areas of Southern California. As stated in memes weeks ago, the week of December 21st would be what is called a Raiden Storm Pattern. A Raiden Storm Pattern means a pattern in the weather that was predicted before any other sources and deemed as such. This pattern however is a deadly one for the metros, which means that copious amounts of rain will be here, leading to extreme flooding.
The snow-level during the main event will be high, above resort level, but I’ll be watching throughout the week on any lowering being possible as we lose the main moisture stream. I won’t be calling this an atmospheric river because I think that is lame, so we will stick with the Raiden Storm Pattern of Christmas 2025.
Los Angeles will see 5″ of rain, San Diego between 2 and 4″, and our mountain zones could easily surpass 7-10″ of rain.
As the days move along, I will be assessing the thunderstorm potential. As of now, that is too far away, so I’ll focus on the main rain event.
This goes in line with the update months ago that Southern California would receive a wetter than normal winter, despite a La Nina. Gutsy call that was but it looks like I will be correct.
The storm pattern may return by end month into the new year, but that will be monitored for updates soon.
