February 4, 2017 – 4:50p
Southern California Weather Force

Centering a start of round February 18th, an upper level low, large one, will be centered over the Central Pacific.  This strong upper level system will position itself to bring in yet another atmospheric river event to California, including our area of Southern California and strong storms are likely to hit then.  This is two weeks from now … a long range forecast.  However, last long range was perfect in predicting that large rainfall event so heed the warning for this one.

Between February 18 and the 26th respectively, we will have colder than normal temperatures.  But before that date we will remain above normal.  The end result would be this month would be just above normal in temperatures as an average … even if the last part of it is colder than normal.

Precipitation forecast in the long range shows that blue color in the metros yet again … so expecting these storms after the 18th of February to be the flooding type.

Snowfall charts shows some snowfall in the High Desert elevations and the chart above for colder temperatures supports lower elevation snowfall.
