Pacific Storm Andreas is moving through the forecast area, now on the western side. This update will update you on what will be expected with the system throughout the day in various locations.
The storm system is expected to continue upslope shower/thunderstorm chances through today in the Los Angeles and San Bernardino Foothill areas … with breaks in the activity in expected in the San Diego, Inland Empire, Orange, and Metro Los Angeles areas at times today … Widespread thunderstorms will form in the upper High Desert regions of the Kern/San Bernardino zones. Thunderstorm Watch product is taking care of those areas.
Precipitation now over Santa Barbara County will move eastward along the coast and offshore the Channel Islands. This batch of activity will reinforce the precipitation in the VT/LA/OC/IE/SD areas overnight tonight … with the tstorm risk introducing as well for those areas … MINUS the San Diego zones … where I still believe this system has no thunderstorm dynamics down there. Activity will continue for the entire night for these zones … as VT/SBA/Kern dry out.
