Issued Zones:  All coastal zones and 10 miles inland …

Site:  SouthernCaliforniaWeatherForce.com has issued a Severe Weather Statement for a pending Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective Wednesday …

Date:  1/5/16 at 1:40pm PT

Forecast: Major Pacific Storm Diane did produce spin-ups and possible land-falling very weak waterspouts, especially in the OC/SD Coastal regions where a defined signature was seen … however there is now Major Pacific Storm Eugene, impacting on Wednesday.

This system is 2-3x stronger than Diane and it has been dubbed our Category Five.  Our model indicates the inbound winds into the cells on Wednesday approaching all coastal regions of the forecast area will be between 45 and 55 mph … and this inbound would create a tornado capable of winds in excess of 70-90 mph … and impact our coastal communities.

In comparison on the OC/SD coast today with the possible tornado, inbound winds were 30 mph.  A substantial risk of wind damage will also be possible with severe thunderstorms expected.

10 mile rule:  These alerts issued on this site means that within your zone and 10 miles from you will see the event forecast for.  You may or may not see the event but it means you are in the zone or 10 miles from where someone will.

Forecaster: KM
