Site:  SouthernCaliforniaWeatherForce.com has issued a Special Weather Statement effective now for Thursday and Friday …

Date:  5/4/16 at 1:05pm PT

Forecast: A cutoff low will begin affecting the area on Thursday, but come into most of the region on Friday.  This type of system will put different locations within rain/storm activity at various times so pay attention to the timeline of this forecast and locations within it.

Today, winds will gust in the mountain/desert areas … with the3 maximum wind gusts happening on Friday.

Tomorrow (Thursday), the upper level low will position itself west of the forecast area.  The upper divergence ahead of it will spark the Pine Mountain Club and Kern County region up with shower and thunderstorm activity.  The most activity will be those regions, but there will be increased activity as well across the SBA/SLO County regions … just not as prominent.

Onshore flow will increase on Thursday evening for the SD areas .. as well as against the LA/SBD/RIV/SD Mountains.  Precipitation beginning there is possible.

As Friday hits, the upper level low comes directly overhead and the forecast area will have hit and miss shower and thunderstorm across the coast, valley, mountain, and even desert areas.  Friday is going to feature high instability values everywhere and additional micro-climate alerts are going to be needed for members.

Stay tuned …
