Long Range April 2017 Weather Forecast

The April 2017 Long Range Forecast attempt is in and if you’re a premium member you can plan your upcoming trips around it with ease.  We have average temperatures, average precipitation, stormiest period, hottest period, and coldest period.

First and foremost, March went pretty well.  It was for above average temperatures and pretty dull for the most part and that is what it was.  So with that in mind as we head through April 2017 let’s look at my models.

For the weekend of April 8th and 9th, a trough of low pressure will return offshore.  This would mean more rainfall for the state of California.  Given the position of the trough on 50 of my model outcomes, have decided that this looks to bring some rain into our region, along with colder temperatures.  Additional article updates over the week will be made on this one.  How much rain?  Looks like a classic weakening front with more rain west of Los Angeles and less south and eastward, similar to what we had in the drier seasons.

The week before Easter weekend will be a drying out period, so if you have decorating to do this would be a good time to do it.  There are numerous outcomes for Easter Weekend showing a trough of low pressure coming into our region.  However basing off 50 different tweaks in my model, I’m seeing lowering heights as we go through Easter Sunday into the Monday after.  This is telling me that after a drier period several days prior, the return of cooler weather patterns with a chance of rain is possible during that period.  Since it is also showing the trough a bit north on some calculations, this won’t be a slam dunk trough of low pressure and could act like the one on the weekend of the 8th and 9th.

We have a small break after Easter Weekend and then around April 19th I’m seeing the numbers dropping for a stronger southern dip in the heights offshore and onshore which is telling me that a static storm pattern looks to return with rain/cold conditions lasting through the end of the month.
