Storms moved through the deserts, mountains, and valleys today with activity continuing on west of Los Angeles tonight. The upper level low responsible for strong lifting will usher in more instability on Wednesday and from the Inland Empire into the Metro High Desert areas there may be a chance I will issue the rare Tornado Watch so read on for details …
Overnight tonight we have the far Eastern Desert Thunderstorm Watch in effect for storms moving out of Arizona into those areas … so it has been taken care of.

Today’s storms will make a repeat in the same areas for Wednesday, however making today look like a walk in the park. The current thinking is that the upper level low will buckle the ridge even further and that a very rare outer vorticy moving around it will impact the region and up the severe storm parameters.
This type of dewpoint and high moisture content even at the surface is something you would see in Oklahoma, rather than Southern California.
If instability remains without debris clouds … we will see storms form over the Riverside and San Diego Mountains once again, pushing outflow into the Inland Empire areas … in return storms forming over the San Bernardino Mountains will push outflow into the Metro High Desert areas. This, combined with all listed above … will make it likely for tornadoes to form and a watch is pending.

Moisture will be at maximum westward movement tomorrow so this is when you folks in the Ventura and Kern Mountains will see the action … finally impacting the Tehachapi and Gorman/PMC areas.
As for San Diego … you might be in the upper flow for drier conditions at the coast and Downtown … but northern county could see some activity on your Wednesday.
