Level 4 Heatwave conditions are expected for the SCV, Inland Empire, and inner Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Kern County valleys on Tuesday along with widespread humidity conditions across Southern California in what may be a record breaking event for the combination for the month of August.  Read more for details …

You think the heat is something and now we have the humidity?  Southern California Weather Force grids are warning the peak of this on Tuesday with 110-115F degrees in the inner valley areas in the level 4 zones with 115+ in the level 5 zones of the low desert areas, which you should be use to by now.  The humidity will be due to the upper ridge migrating northward north of Las Vegas, placing in perfect position for a due east/west monsoonal flow out of Arizona.   There will be the chance of relief with any thunderstorms moving through the area and more than enough heat to cause it, but locations will not be seen until we near the days of each event with the micro-climate alerts.

Use the maps below and they key provided to find out what level you are in from my 1-5 scale for Tuesday 8-18-2020.

5. Heat Stroke Certain After 10 minutes of exposure. You will die outside in this as it is near low oven temperatures that will slowly cook you. You may even have a hint of burnt human skin that only Jeffrey Dahmer would like. Water is a must and so is salt to replenish the water lost in the body. Do not add pepper.

4. Dangerous. If you want to hike in this, you must have a lot of water. Most people think that they have enough water but they do not. This is the level at which kills a lot of people due to that reason. Working outside is not recommended. You do not want to be playing hot potato with your feet on the sidewalk in this level.

3. Great discomfort. Do not exert yourself on a level three. Drink plenty of water, and hiking is not recommended without proper knowledge and supplies.

2. Some discomfort. Be cautious outside when working and drink plenty of water.

1. Very little discomfort, however long periods of exposure could bring heat exhaustion.
