Prolonged Heatwave To Impact Inland Southern California Starting This Weekend

062316dA ridge of high pressure will build back into the region and up the temperatures once again, giving a prolonged triple digit heatwave for the metro inland areas with well above normal temperatures again in the deserts starting this weekend and lasting well into the week following.  Read on for details.

At the current time, models here at Southern California Weather Force are pushing values up again and this time instead of a two-day heatwave … we’ll have more than five days of well above normal temperatures in the inland areas.

It looks like the coast will be cool again … with a slight onshore flow in the area.  This should keep our heat advisories/warnings when issued … inland …

Unlike the last one … no warnings are expected toward the coast …

The following temperatures are for Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, and Wed – going in order … as per the Southern California Weather Force official temperature model forecast.

Riverside – 101 – 104 – 105 – 104 – 103
Downtown LA – 88 – 90 – 94 – 95 – 95
Fullerton – 91 – 93 – 98 – 100 – 91
SFV/SCV– 102 – 103 – 104 – 104 – 101
Irvine – 84 – 83 – 88 – 90 – 87
Ramona – 89 – 90 – 95 – 98 – 96
Bakersfield – 103 – 108 – 109 – 110 – 111
Paso Robles – 99 – 102 – 104 – 104 – 97
Lancaster – 101 – 103 – 104 – 103 – 100
Apple Valley – 101 – 103 – 105 – 102 – 98
29 Palms – 103 – 105 – 107 – 103 – 99
Indio – 105 – 107 – 112 – 107 – 105
Brawley – 110 – 112 – 116 – 111 – 109
Blythe – 110 – 112 – 114 – 110 – 107
Las Vegas – 107 – 109 – 113 – 110 – 101

Sometime during the middle part of this next week we are expecting the ridge to buckle a bit .. and as it does so it could allow for a brief intrusion of monsoonal moisture into the Eastern Deserts … Which would up the shower/thunderstorm chances there.

Our long range models do not show any major monsoonal flow intrusions well into July.  July … like June .. could have a period of cooler than normal temperatures in the second week followed by heatwaves … So again … another hot month is coming up for Southern California.  Our official July 2016 forecast will come out on June 30th.
