Monsoon Moisture Pushes as Far as Los Angeles County Through Tonight

Monsoonal moisture is streaming westward with an easterly wave moving through the area and convective activity may move as far west as Los Angeles so read on for details.

Instability is gaining this morning across the Inland Empire and surrounding mountain and desert locations.  Because of this I did issue monsoonal storm alerts, with one being a severe thunderstorm watch.  Short range forecasts indicate that severe storm potential does exist in the mountain areas and adjacent close valley areas to their west.

There are some indications that instability may not make it to the Corona/Norco/Ontario areas … so even though they are under a thunderstorm watch, the 10 mile radius is the reason for it.  All thunderstorms will be weakening as they move westward into those areas.

Now, what happens tonight is a few dynamics will linger through the area .. along with mid-level instability.  So even though the sun goes down … it is possible that convective activity would linger into the night for Los Angeles County south and eastward.  It is being monitored but even this mention should cover the forecast well.

Even the satellite image is showing a mid-level dryline across Los Angeles County … so this is a focus spot for convective activity overnight tonight … so be on the look-out …

We should maintain normal to above normal temperatures through the coming 10 Days … with shots of monsoonal moisture moving through …
