Site:  Southern California Weather Force has issued a Severe Weather Statement effective now for Friday …

Date:  9/7/17 at 8:15pm PT

Forecast: An upper level low is dropping into position to place Imperial County and the Eastern Riverside Deserts in a rare setup with strong upper divergence during the monsoon season.  Storm motion will be south-southwest to north-northeast and this promotes storms in Mexico.. shooting fast up into the populated regions of Imperial County. 

It is quite possible that we are looking at damaging winds, flooding, hail, and even the tornado risk for your Friday.  A Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be needed by morning.
