BREAKING: Strong Inland Heatwave To Impact This Next Week For Southern California

6.5K+Shares

While not as strong as the previous heatwave, temperatures of near 110 will be felt inland after this weekend if current Southern California Weather Force models are correct.  Read on for details …

We will slowly start to get rid of the monsoon moisture out ahead of another building ridge that should build almost directly above us after this weekend.  Temperatures will climb as a result with 110 inland and 120+ in the low deserts.  This heatwave will not be as strong as the 118 in Riverside this month, however just 8 degrees ‘cooler’ than that is still going to be deadly to be in.  Should also protect your agriculture and pets during this time.

The beaches should be nice and the heat shouldn’t be like it was earlier this month near the beaches with a slight onshore flow in progress.  Last event was an offshore flow in all sectors.. a reason Long Beach got very high temperatures as well.  You can get away with 95 in Long Beach next week with this event.

This should be a dry heat, unlike what we are experiencing now.  We are still above average for July, way below for June.  At the current time we are average for the Summer in temperatures due to June’s well below average temperatures.  Looking ahead to August we have swings in the upper levels.  Upper level values are showing troughs and ridges at times, so more of a see-saw pattern to come where we have cooler than average days and hotter than average.

We have all but completely lost the So2 from the Hawaiian volcano, a reason we are seeing these spikes.  However, as the atmosphere does respond to June.. August should run between June and July.  The final outlook will come toward the end of the month.

We are remaining climbing up to a weak El Nino and values remain steady just below that number.  Weak El Ninos tend to bring tropical moisture northward toward the later part of Summer so this is something I will be monitoring.

Ongoing Text Ad:  Furthermore we parted with our main summer-time advertiser and will need Summer help each year.. but you made it possible!  If you are still interested (and I had many asking me how they can pitch in for this) in doing addon and upgrade help you can donate to SCWF in just a couple clicks by CLICKING HERE.  Maybe we can get the video green-screen forecast software back!.  I do appreciate all the help, especially making the goal to remain operational through the Summer.  We are now complete on the goal keep operations this Summer without an advertiser.  Thank you everyone who has helped.  At this point it is about upgrades/addons as the server operations are now paid for.
