Freezing Rain Advisory

22Shares

Issued Zones:  Kern County Mountains …

Site:  Southern California Weather Force has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory effective New Years Eve Morning …

Date:  12/30/18 at 1:50pm PT

Forecast: A backdoor cold-front will make its way through the forecast zones on New Years Eve Morning.  Freezing temperatures at the surface combined with warmer temperatures in the low/mid levels would make for instant freezing of any rainfall that hits.

This would be called freezing rain.  Roads could be icy and therefore dangerous, especially in the pass locations.  If the front is colder than it could be a dusty of snowfall… however since I am seeing the slightly warmer layer, freezing rain/ice is more likely, becoming less likely a few hours after sunrise.

Be very careful traveling this advisory area in the morning.
