It was clear by around the 24th that January 2020 would be colder than normal, possibly even colder than December was… and there were some cold times. We are going to see more offshore cold Santa Ana Winds similar to what we are going to see this evening through tomorrow in all Santa Ana Wind Prone zones. After that, blasts of cold air with inside sliders moving north and east of us, each round of cold air being colder than the other through the middle part of the month.
As for storms. Very similar to the entire season, we are running on a three to four week pattern where we dry off and the we get a week of storm activity moving in. This looks extremely likely with a cold system after January 18-19th and then followed by a wet pattern toward the end of the month and into some of February. Traditionally January is Los Angeles’ wettest period along with February… but this year not so much as I am going to keep it below normal for this month. So far this season we are running way below normal in temperatures from October through now.
Until a system eyes us, I will go back again into hibernation mode as Southern California Weather Force is an inclement weather service and not an every day thing. See you next post.
