Major Pacific Storm Gavin is a category five system and it is not done with Southern California yet.  This is a very important article to read and pay attention to as some of you like San Diego proper are not in any dangerous risk zone while areas in the Inland Empire, Mountains, and Desert are.  Read on for details …

The system is expected to be just southwest of San Diego by Thursday morning.  It will usher in moisture out of Northern Mexico and it will overspread the entire area through the day.  The SCWF Flood Risk Model shows a very wide area of moderate/high and even extreme risks through the area and the Excessive Lightning Watch was issued to include that.  This will act very similar to the Summer Monsoon, including the locations it affects.  So if you are in the LA/OC/San Diego coastal zones you can expect similar to the monsoon where you don’t get much of anything like inland does/  I have included the SCWF Flood and Rainfall Forecast in this.  There isn’t much to say on it other than show the images … The reason for the lack of dynamics for the LA/OC/San Diego coast is because the low is so close to there that a dryslot will form and cut off thunderstorm tops so the chance if minimal there.

I will be watching for the next system at the end of the weekend into early this next week.  More on that later … it is a colder system with a cold front –
