FINAL FORECAST: Weekend Weather System To Bring Strong Wind Event To Some Areas, Snow On The Gorman Pass On Saturday; Model Images Included

Well here we are again, I thought it would be hibernation mode, but this final forecast is for a quick-moving weather system into the region.  Rain will not be the main issue, but snow on the Gorman Pass is bringing up the SCWF Winter Weather Advisory on Saturday.  Strong winds are expected in some metro areas as well as a Santa Ana Pattern lasting through Sunday.  Find your area and map by reading on …

This is a weak system so here are the basics and focus spots.  The event hits Saturday morning in terms of snow or any rain.  The wind will also start then for all areas except the Inland Empire zones where the wind for you will start later in the day as the low-level winds shift from northwest to northeast or the Santa Ana Wind direction.  These Santa Ana Winds will last into noon Sunday and will wan down over the afternoon/evening hours.

The next event is around the 24th of this month where another system moving north of us will generate another Santa Ana Wind Pattern.  This one looks a bit stronger than this weekend’s event.  As you remember the last couple of months had offshore wind events before the pattern snapped back into us so this is what I’m banking will happen after these pass again.  I’ll see you back then.

The SCWF model image suite below is so you can see your zone region covered.  Keep in mind that these are the most comprehensive images around.  They are touchy to the micro-climate and in the rain and flood risk model, you will only see the expected risk or amount.  Those models actually cancel out the snow so before you saw flood risks covering the mountains.  The new models remove that and make it easier to know what to expect.

I control 10 counties in Southern California so there is a lot to say for various areas. The best I can do is let the images below speak for themselves. They are separated into five rows of six. Four zones that I control. If you are in Southern California, you are in one of these. Each is identical so zone 1 is the same on all the rows and so on.  Image 5 is Cajon Pass, and Image 6 is Kern Mountains including Gorman for you travelers.  Here is the key to the rows below.  They are extremely detailed.

Row 1 – Alert Zones
Row 2 – Events Expected by Micro-Climate
Row 3 – Rain Risk
Row 4 – Snow Risk
Row 5 – Wind Risk
