A weather system is expected to cross the region on Monday, April 26, 2021, delivering a bit more rain to the forecast area.  San Diego County is favored with this one so read on for details …

As stated in the previous update (click here to read that), an inside slider would bring cloudy and cool conditions starting yesterday and going through today.  We have had that in the metros with no sun to be seen at all.  We also have had thunderstorms in the Northern Kern County Mountains near Lake Isabella today.  Storms were confined there and the far eastern deserts.  As the article stated, the 26th would be a monitoring period and I have the first look details for you.

A system is expected to affect the SLO/SBA/KERN zones by Sunday at the earliest, finally pushing through the rest of the forecast area overnight then and into the day on Monday.  This system has no southerly flow with it, so I do not expect it to highly affect the VT/LA areas like it would for parts of the Inland Empire, western slope zones of the Santa Ana Mountains, and especially San Diego County.  San Diego County looks to have the west to east flow over it for the most rainfall from this system than anywhere in the forecast area through your Monday so it isn’t a good day for roofing or outside work activities like pouring cement.

I had to check the pie chart model I developed for confidence and zones.  The pie chart model clearly shows that San Diego will see more than Los Angeles in terms of rainfall.  So, confidence is there that it is the right route to go.   More on this will be introduced over the weekend before it enters the forecast area.  It however will be windy in the mountains and deserts this weekend, both days, ahead of the system… as is what is common with these types of systems.  It also has deep enough upper moisture for precipitation even into the low desert areas.
