Forecast: Severe Storms in Southern Arizona will send an easterly wave into Southern California by Sunday. The upper-level flow will turn from coming from the south to more of easterly. Developing instability with the increased moisture will set off thunderstorms in the statement area.
Some of these storms will be severe as the severe risk model shows a ‘notable’ category over most of the area. The exception being more severe in the moderate risk category from the Southern Morongo Basin southeast through JTNP and to Desert Center…
Travel along I-10 will be hazardous on Sunday. Storms will contain large hail and damaging winds at times. I’ve included along I-15 from Santee/Escondido/Temecula to the Hemet/San Jacinto and Banning areas just incase they leak westward, but I do not think the severity will go any further than that. We could have elevated storms for Coastal San Diego on Sunday, which would catch beach-goers off guard so that is something to think about … but they will not be severe –
