Squall-Line Warning Issued for Metro Southern California Zones This Afternoon Through Early Tonight

Southern California Weather Force has issued a Squall-Line Warning for a burst of heavy rain along a Cold front that will also harbor damaging winds with it later this afternoon through early tonight.  The locations will be Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Inland Empire, and San Diego forecast zones so read on for details …

Latest satellite images show a line developing well offshore, southwest of Vandenberg Space Force Base at the moment.  This line will continue to move toward the warning zone, hitting Ventura first early in the period and going east through the rest of the zones this evening and exiting San Diego after around 8-9pm.

Lifting values between 3,000 FT and 25,000 FT looks to be very strong.  This, with some instability along the line will make for sinking air, thus strong to damaging winds will accompany the front.  This front is the cold-front, and thus with and behind it is when the snow-level will crash through 4,000 FT, affecting pass locations as well.
