Thunderstorms To Target San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego Mountains On Sunday

0Shares

Southern California Weather Force has issued a Special Weather Statement out ahead of an opening in the monsoon flow, expected to cross the region on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Severe Thunderstorms in Mexico will form this afternoon and evening in response to an easterly wave that will move into the area.  This easterly wave will rotate around a ridge of high pressure over the four corners area.  As this easterly wave enters the special weather statement area, thunderstorms are expected to form.

These thunderstorms will contain strong winds and at times larger hail.  The easterly wave will move out on Sunday night after sunset, ending the threat.

If you are planning to be in the Big Bear areas, Riverside or San Diego Mountains, expect rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.  If out on the lake, pay attention to the sky as the day moves along.  You’re recommended to enjoy outside activities between sunrise and 10am as this will be the quieter period before storm development.
