Southern California Weather Force has issued a Dry Lightning Watch effective Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 for the following zones;
Date Issued: August 31st, 2025 at 9:10am Local
Discussion: High Pressure will form over Northern Arizona and Southwestern Utah on Monday. This will bring thunderstorms off Arizona’s Mogollon Rim, southwest into the low terrain of Maricopa and Pinal County, where I expect thunderstorms Monday evening to pass. The outflow from these will continue moving westward toward the Yuma zones, eventually entering the forecast area on Tuesday morning, and going through the day. For the western end of the forecast zone for Ventura and Kern County, consider your timing to mainly be later Monday night and early Tuesday morning, with the rest of the watch zones being most of the day on Tuesday. It includes Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino County.
A Dry Lightning Watch is issued at Southern California Weather Force when conditions are possible for thunderstorms in the region, with a drier low-level, for less rain, with cloud to ground lightning risk, and a chance for fires to start due to it, covering 50% of the watch zone. Dry Lightning Watches at Southern California Weather Force are private, issued ahead of time to the public by SCWF as the lead-time is extremely important to you.
