Forecast: Our thunderstorms model is showing a pretty intact frontal zone move through today. THis frontal zone will start out in the Vandenberg AFB area this morning and move east through the day and into the evening for the OC/IE areas where it will end.
Strong upper divergence profiles with a sharp trough-axis will make it possible for isolated thunderstorms to form within this front. At the current time, the front will bring a quick round of moderate to heavy rainfall within some of the cells … and only isolated thunderstorms. Some of you will not hear the thunder … but it will remain on the ‘isolated’ side.
if trends continue this way, an upgrade to weather advisory will be needed for all or part of the Special Weather Statement zone. The northern extent of any thunderstorm activity is the Southern Antelope Valley and Metro High Desert zones … the eastern extent is the Western Inland Empire …
