Winter Weather Watch

Issued Zones:  All High Desert Zones, except Baker …

Site:  Southern California Weather Force has issued a Winter Weather Watch effective now for Monday …

Date:  12/27/19 at 9:20am PT

Forecast:  A strong cutoff system will release from the jet stream on the eastern periphery of the Pacific High Pressure system that has been responsible for bringing arctic storms in this season.

This highly amplified pattern will start the chance of snow on Sunday night for the Kern/VT Mountain areas and move through Monday for the entire High Desert area.

The preliminary and experimental snow-risk model here at SCWF shows mainly yellow across the desert areas away from the foothills so low risk at the moment.  There are some moderate risks showing up for Lancaster, Hesperia, and Lucerne Valley and Higher as you get to the foothills of the Kern/LA/SBD Mountains.   The closely proximity of the upper system means it will be a colder one than the last.  It will bring the chance of snow all the way to Las Vegas’ Metro area

A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS (CLICK HERE TO READ)

A Winter Weather Watch means that conditions are becoming increasingly favorable for any amount of snow in the zones highlighted areas and a Winter Weather Advisory is possible.  If conditions worsen you will be notified in the final alert.  If the alert is cancelled, it will just cancel.
